the potter behind

Little Moo Studio

A million years ago I went to art college but then real life took over and I got a job, a husband, a mortgage and two children.

Somewhere along the line I decided to try a night class in pottery at Sundragon Community Pottery and everything changed.  The world of ceramics claimed me and I have been much happier ever since.

Now I have been given the opportunity to teach at Sundragon (my second home and family) and have a shed/studio at my house, this is Little Moo Studio.

Little Moo Studio and Sundragon Community Pottery

So I can't tell you about my ceramics life without talking about Sundragon.  This community pottery based in Balsall Heath changed the course of my life and has now become a major part of it.

Founded 10 years ago by Becky Belcher who had an idea that if she needed somewhere to be able to play with clay then there would be others who needed that too, Sundragon formed as a small members space in The Old Print Works, Balsall Heath, Birmingham.  At a time when other potteries in the city were closing Becky took on hand me down equipment and with a vision and a lot of love brought together like minded souls..  As its momentum grew classes were held and it was one of these that I attended.

The warm encouraging environment and a passion to bring the joy of clay to anyone who wanted it resonated deeply with me.  Over the years this not for profit business has gone from strength to strength and I have found myself encouraged to take on teaching and then to become a Director (one of eight) of this amazing place.
